Firstly my commiserations if any of you have been caught up in or been affected by the recent riots. Secondly, I have a couple of journalists from the Straits Times and from MediaCorp who would like to interview any Singaporean in London who was affected directly by the riots over the past few days. If you are keen to share your experiences, please contact me at president@suka.org.
Thanks and take care,
Bernard
As some are probably aware, the current committee and I will resign sometime in Oct/Nov 2011. I will not stand for re-election, although a number of the committee have nobly volunteered to be elected under a new President. I am proud to have served the Association and hope that I have represented you well and so that you could be proud to be a Singaporean and a member of SUKA. We could have resigned and called for elections earlier than 1 October but because there is currently a transition of High Commissioners for the UK & ROI, I had been asked to stay for a couple more months as is allowed under our Constitution. There are still a few more exciting events to come before I leave my post and I hope to receive your support and participation for these. As usual, look out for the announcements on Facebook and on our website.
Yours sincerely
Bernard Cheong
